The Bulldogs went all maroon for the first time this season in their homecoming win over Bowling Green.
As the Bulldogs attempt to upset #10 LSU, they will wear the Shiny Maroon/ Maroon/ White combo for the third time. This seems to be the go-to home uniform this year.
The Bulldogs are wearing the same combo for the first time this year, wearing the same combo worn vs. Alcorn State.
The Bulldogs have announced on twitter that they will wear the matte helmets, white jerseys, and white pants. This is a great combo; I love the matte helmet. The only thing that could improve it would be the maroon pants.
The Bulldogs will take the field with their traditional maroon-maroon-white look, with the normal, shiny helmet making its first appearance this year.
The Bulldogs debuted their new alternate helmets in Week 1, those being the maroon versions of the snow bowl helmets. Maroon jerseys and White pants complete a non-bad look.
Today, Mississippi State announced a new helmet for their game vs. Oklahoma State game in Houston on Saturday. The helmet is a Maroon Version of the snow bowl helmet worn last year. It is matte, and has a maroon facemask. Scott Stricklin announced on twitter that the Bulldogs would be wearing Maroon on Saturday, despite being the away team. Could there be a Maroon/Orange matchup in Houston come Saturday? It's very possible. As for pants, gray would look best with this helmet and I think that's what they'll go with. But you never know, so here are 4 possible uniforms for State on Saturday-
A teaser video released yesterday turned out to be about the 2013 Egg Bowl Uniforms. The third uniform in the Egg Bowl series, this will be the second maroon version. This year's version drops the white outline around the numbers and moves the gold HAIL STATE wordmark from the back to the front of the jersey, replacing the big Mississippi State wordmark. The numbers are in the same spot as they were last year, and a m-state logo has been added to the right chest. A gold Mississippi State wordmark has been added to the pants. There is still none of the striping from the regular uniforms on this year's egg bowl version. That, along with the lack of an outline on the numbers, is one of the reasons I initially felt like this is a downgrade from the first two egg bowl jerseys. Those didn't have any striping, either, but a helmet stripe and a shoulder stripe would certainly improve this uniform. However, these have since grown on me and I have to say that they are probably my favorite of the three. Last two egg bowl uniforms- 2D mockups of this year's Egg Bowl Uniforms-
You may have seen the following picture today as it made it's way around the internet. It is a pink uniform for Mississippi State. What's worse? The digital camo pants that resemble the zubaz that Adidas previously featured in their College Basketball Tournament uniforms earlier this year. The good news is that it doesn't appear to be hot pink, but the lighting could be distorting the color. The best news, however, is that MSU athletic director confirmed they are only a concept, and they probably won't ever see the field: "The pink football jersey … here’s the deal: Adidas is very creative. Many ideas are only concepts, like that one for breast cancer awareness."
Still, if Adidas thinks this is acceptable for a football uniform, I can't wait for our contract with them to end. They did a good job for our new uniforms last year (though they gave Texas A&M the same uniform with a few differences.), but the Astrodog baseball uniforms they gave us for the CWS were horrible. Thankfully, we got out of wearing those by only wearing them in pregame, but we shouldn't even have to wear them then. I suppose it's good that Adidas considers us one of their top schools, but they need to get some better taste in design. Finally, here's a mockup of what the final uniform might look like, the view in the leaked picture doesn't show the entire uniform. |
