This page contains a record of every baseball uniform Mississippi State has worn since the 1919 season.
Records back to 2011 are 100% accurate and I feel 95% confident on everything back to the switch to Russell Athletic in 2005. Once it gets back farther than that, I'm relying on photos/videos from a variety of sources, so details could be missing, years may be off, and it's possible that a uniform could be missing if it was rarely worn in photographed games.

Introduced in 2024:
Maroon Script "State"
2024- Mississippi State continued its expansion of the Script "State" in 2024, putting it on a maroon jersey for the first time as part of Adidas's templated "Reverse Retro" series. These jerseys featured silver numbers (outlined in white) for the first time ever on a maroon jersey, along with a number of other silver accents, including on the sleeve striping, outlining the Script "State" logo, and on the Adidas logo. In their debut, they were paired with camo hats and solid white pants. They were later paired with the standard maroon hats and gray pants. |
Introduced in 2023:
Black Script "State"
2023- After not wearing any black uniforms in 2022, Mississippi State brought back black jerseys in 2023, this time designed to be worn with contrasting pants rather than the all-black look that was worn from 2018 to 2021. The jerseys feature a maroon script "State" mark outlined in white, a maroon M over S logo outlined in white on the right sleeves, maroon numbers outlined in white, white player names on the back, maroon placket piping, and maroon-white-black-white-maroon striping on the sleeves. The numbers and player name are in a "western" font similar to the one previously worn on the '85-style jerseys from 1977 to 1988 and from 2009 to 2017. In their debut game, they were paired with white hats and stripe-less white pants. |
White Script "State"
2023 Mississippi State's templated Adidas look in 2023 was actually a really clean one, featuring an all-white look with the popular script "State" mark. These jerseys include the M over S logo on the left (rather than right) sleeve, maroon numbers on the back, and a white State of Mississippi logo outlined in maroon above the numbers rather than player names. White hats, re-introduced for the first time since 2011 and featuring the same design worn in 2008 and 2009, and stripe-less white pants were worn with this uniform to create a true all-white look. |
Introduced in 2022:
Maroon 85s
2022- The classic maroon 85s underwent the same tweaks for the 2022 season that the white 85s underwent in 2021. These tweaks include the addition of player names to the back (replacing the state of Mississippi outline) and the streamlining of the number font to the full (rather than condensed) version of the custom university font. |
Maroon STATE
2022 Along with other top-tier Adidas schools, Mississippi State debuted a new templated, Adidas-designed alternate uniform in 2022. These alternate maroon jerseys featured white '50s style STATE lettering, maroon on maroon numbers, and a vertical shoulder stripe with "Mississippi State" lettering on the left sleeve. They were paired with stripe-less white pants, which were worn for the first time since 2016. Just like the 2018 version of the Maroon M over S jerseys, these were only worn twice, to fulfill Adidas contract requirements, and were never seen again. |
Introduced in 2021:
White M over S Pinstripes
2021- After wearing the script "State" on the white pinstripes for four seasons from 2017 to 2020, the Bulldogs switched back to the "M over S" white pinstripe design in 2021. Most similar to the variant previously worn in 2013 and 2014, this design is very popular among fans and its return has been widely praised. |
Gray M over S Pinstripes
2021- After a one season, pandemic-induced break, the gray pinstripes returned in 2021, featuring a slightly updated design. White outlines were added to the M over S logo and back numbers to improve visibility. Mirroring the white pinstripes also introduced in 2021, these gray pinstripes feature no front number and utilize the full version of the custom university number font for the back numbers. |
Cream Script "State"
2021-2023 In 2021, the Bulldogs brought back cream uniforms for the first time since 2015. Similar to the gray uniforms debuted in 2020, the new cream uniforms feature the "State" script on the chest, M over S logo on the right sleeve, player names on the back, and double maroon stripes on the sleeves and pants. |
Introduced in 2020:
Introduced in 2019:
Maroon 85s
2019-2021 The maroon 85s saw some changes in 2019, including the thinning of the sleeve stripes and addition of the M over S logo to the right sleeve, as well as a few patch adjustments. This jersey would be the one worn when Mississippi State captured its first National Championship in 2021. |
"Nickelblack" Black 85s
2019-2021 In addition to the undergoing the same changes as the other versions, the 2019 black 85s feature maroon accents, differentiating them from the 2018 versions that featured absolutely no maroon. The 2019 black 85s also feature player names on the back in place of the state of Mississippi outline, the first baseball jerseys to do so since the white M over S jerseys in 2016. |
White "State" Pinstripes
2019-2020 The white "State" pinstripes underwent a few tweaks in 2019, including switching to the thicker M over S logo on the right sleeve (to match the also updated 85-style jerseys), making the state of Mississippi outline on the back larger, and moving the Adidas logo to the left chest. |
Alex Wilcox Teal
2019 In honor of Alex Wilcox, a Mississippi State softball player who was diagnosed with and later passed away from ovarian cancer, the baseball team wore these teal jerseys in a 2019 midweek win over Arkansas Pine Bluff. The design matches the teal jerseys that the softball team will wear in every 2019 midweek game. |
Introduced in 2018:
White 85 V-Neck Pullovers
2018 The classic white 85 v-neck pullovers returned to the field in 2018, complete with thick double sleeve and collar stripes. Replacing the inverted white 85s from the previous two seasons, the classic all-white 85 look was a welcome addition to the Bulldogs' uniform lineup in 2018. |
Black 85 V-Neck Pullovers
2018 Black versions of the 85 pullovers, similar to those worn in 2015 and 2016, were introduced in the second weekend of the 2018 season. These black jerseys have the exact same design as the maroon 85s, only with all of the maroon replaced with black. When worn with black pants, the uniforms became known as the "nickelblacks" as the Bulldogs went 8-3 in the combo in 2018. |
Maroon M over S
2018 The maroon M over S jersey design was altered again in 2018; notable changes included switching to a full button down jersey and moving the Adidas logo to above the M over S logo. The updated maroon M over S jerseys were worn in only two games in 2018, but were worn as BP tops throughout the Bulldogs' postseason run. |
Introduced in 2017:
White "State" Pinstripes
2017-2018 In 2017, as one of the "Adidas Heritage Uniforms," the Bulldogs brought back the 1966-1974 uniform design, which featured white pinstripes and a cursive "State" script. This was the Bulldogs' first white pinstripe uniform since 2015 and the first without thick Phillies-style side stripes since 2014. |
Introduced in 2016:
Inverted White 85s
2016-2017 Introduced in the 2016 Governor's Cup, the inverted white 85s became known as the "championship whites." In addition to the GC win in 2016, the inverted white 85s were worn in the Bulldogs' 2016 SEC Championship clinching win over Arkansas, 2016 Starkville Regional Championship over Louisiana Tech, and 2017 Hattiesburg Regional Championship over Southern Miss. They were retired after the 2017 season. |
Mossy Oak Camo
2016 Worn in only one game (a 12-16 loss to Eastern Kentucky), these were a group effort between Mossy Oak, Mississippi State, and Adidas. The jerseys and hats both featured Mossy Oak's "Break-Up Country" pattern, complete with a maroon 85 wordmark and maroon numbers, both with a white outline. |
Introduced in 2015:
Maroon 85s
2015 In 2015, the maroon 85s were slightly altered. White piping was added down the middle of the jersey and the Bulldog logo on the right sleeve was replaced by the state of Mississippi outline. This version of the maroon 85s was only worn for one season; another version would not be worn until 2018. |
White "Phillies Stripe" Pinstripes
2015 The Bulldogs' 2015 pinstripe look was probably the least-well received of its recent pinstripe looks. Featuring thick, Phillies-style stripes on the shoulders and down the pants, the jerseys seemed overly busy and were clearly a downgrade from the previous year's pinstripe look. |
Introduced in 2014:
White "Hail State"
2014 Arguably the worst baseball uniforms in Mississippi State history, these abominations were worn in the 2014 SEC Tournament in a win over Georgia. Following an Adidas templated design, the two-button jerseys featured a maroon "Hail State" wordmark and maroon numbers, both outlined in dark gray to create a muddy, hard to read look. However, by far the worst part about the uniforms was the gigantic gray M over S logo plastered on the front of the jersey. Incredible that these made it past multiple approvals and onto the field. |
Lead "Hail State"
2014 In the third game of the 2014 SEC Tournament, Mississippi State wore dark gray, or "lead," versions of the "Hail State" uniforms. These were better than the white versions in my opinion, if for no reason other than that the color of the huge M over S logo was closer to the jersey color, and therefore less distracting. |
Introduced in 2013:
White M over S Pinstripes
2013-2014 Introduced early in the 2013 season, the White M over S Pinstripes became a symbol of the Bulldogs' 2013 run to the National Championship. The pins were worn in the win over Oregon State that punched the Bulldogs' ticket to the title series, as well as the first game against UCLA. They were the Bulldogs' first pinstripe uniforms since 2008, and the first with the M over S logo since the ones worn under Pat McMahon from 1998 to 2001. |

Russell Maroon 85s
2009 The start of the John Cohen Era meant an immediate improvement to the Bulldogs' uniforms, even though they were still in their contract with Russell Athletic. The maroon jerseys debuted in 2009 mimicked the classic design worn by the Bulldogs during the 80s, including the iconic "Thunder and Lightning" 1985 season. The wordmark, however, was not 100% accurate; the large "S" was not the same as the original design. This would be fixed in 2010 with the switch to Adidas. |
Introduced in 2008:
White "Bulldogs" Pinstripes
2008 In 2008, the Bulldogs wore white pinstripe uniforms for the first time since 2001. While better than the other white uniforms worn in 2008, the Russell Athletic version of the white pins was less than great. The design mimicked that of the Florida Marlins, with a "Bulldogs" script on the front and a "Times" number font, with both the script and numbers being maroon outlined in black. |
Russell Maroon M over S
2008 In Ron Polk's final season, the Bulldogs added new maroon jerseys that, while better than the inverted script "State" catastrophes, couldn't avoid a few Russell Athletic stains. Namely: white shoulder tops and armpits. One interesting thing about these jerseys is that they were worn with white hats, which State hadn't worn since 1959- 49 years earlier. |
Introduced in 2007:
White "State" w/ Maroon Shoulders
2007-2008 Worst uniforms in program history? They're up there, along with the maroon jerseys from the same era and the 2014 SEC Tournament uniforms. Worn during the 07 World Series run, these featured maroon shoulder, a large "M-State" logo patch, block "State" wordmark, "Times" number font, and black as an accent color. |
Introduced in 2006:
Introduced in 2005:
Gray Script
2005-2009 Far and away the best Russell Athletic uniform, it was also the only one to be worn in all five of the seasons that the Bulldogs spent with Russell. With a design based on the one that the Bulldogs wore in the 90s, the only problem with these is that they weren't worn enough; they were never worn in a postseason game. |
Maroon "Bulldogs"
2005-2008 Featuring a maroon on maroon "Bulldogs" script (similar to Florida State's) on the front and "Times" maroon on maroon numbers, these were in the top half of State's Russell Athletic uniforms, IMO. Might have a bit of a soft spot for them since they were worn in the 2005 SEC Tournament Championship Game win over Ole Miss. |

Gray Pinstripe Vests
1999-2004 Replacing the gray script uniforms, the gray pinstripe vests were both the first gray pinstripe uniforms as well as the first vests in program history. Unlike the White Pinstripes, they survived into the Polk II era and were worn until the switch to Russell Athletic in 2005. |
Introduced in 1998:
White M over S Pinstripes
1998-2001 In Pat McMahon's first season as head coach, the Bulldogs wore pinstripe uniforms for the first time since 1974. With the M over S logo on the chest, they replaced the White M over S uniforms as the Bulldogs' primary home look and were worn until McMahon's departure in 2001. |

Introduced in 1988:
White M over S
1988-1997 Around 1987/88, the Bulldogs' home look was changed to white button-down jerseys with maroon piping and the M over S logo on the chest. An interesting article by Bob Carskadon about how these jerseys came to be. |

Introduced in 1975:
White "State" Pullovers
1975-1976 In 1975, Jimmy Bragan became Head Coach of the Bulldogs and the uniforms changed to all white pullovers with a "State" script on the front. In 1976, Ron Polk became head coach, and two changes were made to the uniforms: names were added on the back, and the hat logo was changed to a different M over S design. That design only lasted one season; in 1977, the logo was switched back to the version used from 68-75, which is still used today. |
Introduced in 1966:
White "State" Pinstripes
1966-1974 Worn for the last nine years of Paul Gregory's time as Head Coach, the original white "State" Pinstripes were worn in the Bulldogs first trip to the College World Series in 1971. The first two seasons (66 and 67) they were paired with a maroon hat with a block "M". The now classic M over S logo was first worn on the hats in 1968. |

Thin Block "State" w/ Piping
1941-1943, 1946-1949 The Bulldogs' 1940s uniforms were the first to feature "State" on the chest, in thin block letters. The uniforms featured thin, double piping and a block "M" on the left sleeve. The hats were white with a maroon bill and maroon block "M." Worn by Mississippi State legend Dave "Boo" Ferris in 1941 and 1942. |
Introduced in 1928:
Block "Mississippi"
1928-1940 From 1928 to 1940, encapsulating the entire 1930s, these uniforms featured an arched "Mississippi" in a block font on the jersey front. They were paired with a plain maroon hat from 1928 to 1930, a white hat with a white bill and maroon block "M" from 1931 to 1939, and a white hat with a maroon bill and maroon block "M" in 1940. |
