2020-2021 Men's Basketball Uniforms
After an up-and-down regular season, Mississippi State managed to sneak into the 2021 NIT and made the most of the opportunity, advancing to the NIT Championship Game for the first time in program history.
For the first time since 2013-2014 seasons, State did not introduce any new uniforms, and for the first time in a decade (2010-2011), they only wore three different uniforms over the course of the entire season. The white, maroon, and black uniforms from the previous season returned while the gray and cream uniforms were dropped. The only change was the addition of the "Stronger Together" patch to the back of the white jerseys.
State wore black uniforms more times (10) in the 2020-2021 season than in any previous season in program history, breaking the record of 8 appearances set during the 2019-2020 season. During the regular season, the maroon uniforms were wore very sparingly (4 times to a 2-2 record). However, they were the only uniform worn by the Bulldogs throughout both the SEC Tournament and NIT; the 6 postseason games brought the maroon uniforms' number of appearances up to 10, equaling that of the black uniforms (and totaling one more win).
Overall, the Bulldogs wore their three uniforms fairly equally, with the white uniforms making 13 appearances and the maroon and black uniforms making 10 appearances each. For the third consecutive season, each of State's uniforms finished with a record of .500 or better. The Bulldogs have not had a uniform finish a season with a losing record since the 2017-2018 maroon uniforms.

Before I wrap this up, I do want to note a few disappointments I had with the Men's Basketball uniform lineup this past season:
1. No 1996 Final Four Throwback Uniforms
The 2020-2021 season marked the 25th anniversary of the most successful team in program history, which reached the Final Four in 1996. From 1994 to 2005, the Bulldogs had a brand new set of uniforms each season; it's honestly a huge coincidence that arguably the best uniform from that stretch was the one worn during the 1996 Final Four season. With the simple, classic design featuring block numbers/lettering and the Mississippi -##- State format on the jersey front, it's a uniform that's just begging to be thrown back to. This was the perfect season to do it- and it didn't happen. Meanwhile, Ole Miss wore throwbacks this season to their 2001 team, which only made the Sweet Sixteen. Florida, Arkansas, and Georgia are also examples of SEC teams who have throwback to that era recently. There's no reason why we shouldn't be joining those teams in celebrating past success with a throwback to a classic looking uniform.
I actually made two concepts with this idea in mind about a year ago; one of them of was a straight-up throwback uniform like one for which the above paragraph argues, while the other was a modified version that could be used as a full-time uniform. I said at the time that I would be disappointed if throwbacks didn't happen for the 25th anniversary- well here I am, a year later, disappointed.
2. No Cream Throwback Uniforms
The Bulldogs' cream uniforms, which are modeled after the "Game of Change" design worn from 1960 to 1966, are easily my favorites of the Ben Howland era. They had been worn for 5 consecutive seasons before not seeing the court this year; seeing them kept out of the rotation this season was definitely a disappointment. They've really never been worn a ton; in the last five seasons, they were worn 3, 2, 1, 2, and 1 time(s) respectively. I've always wanted to see them worn more- think 3 times minimum rather than 3 times max- but I'll take only 1 or 2 appearances if it means that they do make a return next season.
3. The Current Uniforms are the Epitome of OK
There wasn't a single game I watched this season where I thought "our uniforms look awful." There also wasn't a single one where I thought "our uniforms look great." The current set is very much the epitome of OK; the uniforms are a bland, generic Adidas design, and don't have anything unique to Mississippi State other than the banner logo on the front (which isn't the most popular design element in of itself). The previous set, with the ribbon design on the shorts, at least had something that felt uniquely connected to State. Ideally, I'd like to see something similar to that concept I linked under the first point, but really I'd just settle for a uniform set that feels like it has something connected to Mississippi State. I'd also like to see a gray jersey of some form brought back- I think that color works well for State basketball, and implementing it into either a throwback design or as just a re-coloration of the primary uniforms is something that I think could be cool.

2020-2021 Women's Basketball Uniforms
Nikki McCray Penson's first season in Starkville was a bumpy one, with a plethora of covid-related cancellations and attendance restrictions. The Bulldogs narrowly missed the NCAA Tournament and turned down a WNIT bid, finishing the season with a 10-9 record.
The Bulldogs had an entirely new set of uniforms for the 2020-2021 season, featuring a lighter texture and shorter shorts as part of Adidas's newest template. The new set featured white, maroon, and pink jerseys with the "banner" logo as well as maroon and black jerseys with a script "State" logo. This script logo was previously worn by the Men's team from 1975 to 1977 as well as in the 2018 NIT. Finally, the Bulldogs wore special maroon uniforms featuring a silver "banner" logo for SEC Tournament.
Like the Men's team, the Women's team wore black uniforms more this season (6 times) than they had in any previous season. The black uniforms were the Bulldogs' primary road uniforms for the 2020-2021 season; three different maroon jerseys were worn only once, each finishing with a 0-1 record.
