Governor's Cup Win; Series Loss to Auburn

This week got off to an excellent start as Mississippi State defeated Ole Miss 4-2 in the Governor's Cup on Tuesday to complete a 4 game sweep of the Rebels this season.  As they did in two of the wins in Oxford, the Bulldogs wore Maroon MS over White in Tuesday's win.

The Bulldogs began the weekend with another win in Maroon MS over White, this time over #5 Auburn.  On Saturday, a doubleheader was scheduled due to rain.  In the first game, the Bulldogs surrendered 17 runs in what was only their second loss all season in the White "State" Pinstripes.  For the nightcap, the Bulldogs went back to Maroon MS over White, pitching 8 scoreless innings but still surrendering the series to the Top 10 Tigers.

Despite the series loss to Auburn, the Bulldogs went 2-2 on the week and are still tied with the Tigers (and possibly Kentucky) atop the SEC standings.  Big series at Texas A&M next weekend.
