This was perhaps the greatest week in Mississippi State sports history.
On Tuesday, the baseball Bulldogs traveled to Memphis and picked up a win in the Maroon MS jerseys and white pants. On Thursday, they picked up a huge series opening win at Ole Miss in the gray pinstripes, which contrasted nicely with Ole Miss's red-brimmed hat and red jerseys.
On Friday, the Bulldogs wore the Maroon MS jerseys with white pants in a series-clinching win. It marked the first time all season that the Bulldogs had worn any pants other than gray pinstripes in a true road game. But that wasn't the big story on Friday. Mississippi State's women's basketball team defeated the No. 1 overall seed UConn in the Final Four in Dallas, snapping the Huskies' 111 game win streak. The win, arguably one of the biggest upsets in college basketball history, sent the Bulldogs to the national championship game, where they will play South Carolina on Sunday.
Back to baseball, the Bulldogs again wore Maroon MS over white on Saturday and managed to pull off a clean sweep of the Rebels. Though I was initially disappointed that the Gray Pinstripes weren't worn against Ole Miss's powder blues, the contrast between the Maroon MS jerseys and the Rebels' powder blues ended up looking great.
