Mississippi State started off its 2019 SEC slate the right way, traveling down to Gainesville, Florida and taking two of three from the top-10 Gators. The weekend was a success all the way around: Chris Lemonis won his first two SEC games as head coach of the Bulldogs, Freshman JT Ginn won his first start against SEC competition, and Mississippi State increased its overall record to 18-2 on the season.
The week started with a midweek game against Grambling; in the white "State" pinstripes, the Bulldogs handled the Grambling Tigers by a score of 18-1. The win gave the white pins a record of 4-0 this season, all in midweek games.
The white pins are a fan favorite uniform; nobody (myself included) is ever going to complain about them being worn often. However, it's definitely interesting that State has now gone multiple weeks without wearing either of their solid white looks (50s style white "STATE" or white 85s). This is due to multiple factors: the Friday doubleheader against Maine, wearing teal against Pine Bluff, and the insistence on wearing black on Sundays. The white "STATE" uniforms have been worn in 3 games, most recently against Southern Miss on February 23rd, while the white 85s have only been worn once, against Jackson State on February 26th. Both looks are really good (the white 85s in particular are my favorite Mississippi State baseball look), so hopefully they see the field more often as the season goes on. With four home games next week, I expect that at the very least the 50s-style white "STATE" uniforms will see the field again.

Due to the threat of rain on Sunday, a doubleheader was played on Saturday to wrap up the series. With JT Ginn on the mound, Mississippi State claimed the early game on Saturday to clinch the series victory; Florida salvaged the final game to prevent a sweep. The Bulldogs wore gray pinstripes in both games, continuing the season trend of wearing the same uniform in both games of a doubleheader.
Winning a game in the gray pinstripes in Gainesville was a nice callback to the series three years ago when the current gray pinstripes were worn for the first time ever: after losing the Friday game in maroon, the Bulldogs debuted the gray pins in a win on Saturday and wore them again in a series-clinching win on Sunday. That series win propelled State to a very successful regular season that culminated in the 2016 SEC Championship. Seeing State, and Jake Mangum (who was a Freshman on that 16 team) in particular, have success at Florida in the gray pinstripes brought back some good memories.
One positive regarding the Saturday doubleheader is that it prevented all-black from being worn in the final game of the series. Any event that limits the amount of times black baseball pants see the field is a good one. At the very least, being worn less often keeps the all-black look a more "special" deal. Without all-black on the weekend, the Bulldogs had basically the perfect road weekend uniform rotation: maroon 85 over gray and gray pins.

So, after this 3-1 week, Mississippi State has now worn 8 uniform combinations in 2019. All eight were debuted in wins, and all eight currently hold a winning record. The upcoming week provides an opportunity to wear up to five of those combinations, with a home midweek game, a road midweek game, and a home weekend series with Auburn. Should be another fun week!
