The 2019 Mississippi State Baseball season kicked off this weekend with the opening of the fully completed Dudy Noble Field. After numerous opening day and inaugural game festivities, the Bulldogs took the field against Youngstown State on Friday, overcoming an early deficit to roll to a 14-3 victory with an 11-run eight inning. The threat of rain on Sunday forced a doubleheader to be played on Saturday, creating a full day of baseball at the newly completed stadium, and State swept the day as well as the series with 14-2 and 8-0 victories.
In the season opener on Friday, State wore the updated maroon 85 jerseys with white pants. As detailed in the season preview, this year's primary maroon jerseys have been altered slightly since last season; changes include thinner sleeve stripes, a few patch movements/adjustments, and the addition of the M over S logo to the right sleeve. I'm a huge fan of this year's look, which, as shown in the graphic below, is the sixth iteration of "maroon 85" jerseys. I think these might be the best iteration yet; the battle for that title is between 2019 and 2010-2014, IMO. Wouldn't mind these sticking around for a few years.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs debuted new white uniforms with a block "STATE" on the front, based on the design worn from 1950-1958. These were a really clean look; I like them even better than I thought I would. Unlike in previous years where State has changed uniforms in-between doubleheader games, the Bulldogs remained in the white "State" uniforms for game 2 of the Saturday DH, keeping the number of uniforms worn on the weekend at two.

We still haven't seen the white 85s, white pins, black 85s, or gray uniforms on the field yet this season, but I'm really liking what I'm seeing from Mississippi State's 2019 baseball uniform lineup. There's a real sense of consistency; every uniform features the M over S logo on the sleeve and Adidas logo on the left chest. And all (that we've seen) except for the black 85s feature the state of MS outline on the back. It's shaping up to be a great year for Mississippi State baseball, in almost every way imaginable.
