This was the year. Mississippi State won the National Championship for the first time in school history in 2021, defeating Vanderbilt in three games in the College World Series Finals to finally take its place as college baseball's top team. In the third (and second complete) season with Chris Lemonis at the helm, the Bulldogs made their 5th consecutive Super Regional, 3rd consecutive College World Series (12th overall), 2nd National Championship Series, and (I'm going to be saying this a lot) won their first National Championship.

Aside from a single appearance of the all-black look in the Super Regional, the Bulldogs stuck to three traditional looks throughout their National Championship run- White 85s, Maroon 85s, and Gray Script "State". The White 85s finished with the best record of the run at a perfect 4-0, while the Maroon 85s were the uniform worn when Mississippi State finally hoisted the National Championship trophy.
