The Bulldogs wore the 5th of 17 combos in their mid week matchup with Alcorn State: the Maroon 80s tops with white pants.
The Bulldogs started off the second weekend of play by wearing the Maroon MS jerseys with white pants- the same combination they wore a week prior. On Saturday, the fourth of 17 combinations was announced: the White MS jersey. Saturday's second game was suspended in the 5th inning; it resumed on Sunday, with the Bulldogs wearing different uniforms.
Not wanting to change in-between games on Sunday but still wanting to bust out the Sunday creams, this was the solution. So, for the 1.5 games played on Sunday, the Bulldogs wore the cream uniforms, this time with the cream hat. This is technically an 18th combination- the 17 combinations graphic cleverly shows the cream uniforms being worn with a batting helmet instead of a hat, therefore not restricting the single combination to one hat. The Bulldogs started off the 2015 season by wearing the first 3 of their 17 combinations. Those being the Maroon MS Jersey with white pants, a wool throwback jersey with 3/4 sleeves (not illustrated in the graphic), and the Cream uniforms.
As you may have heard this week, Mississippi State and Adidas combined in an effort to, in celebrating of the Bulldogs' 125 baseball season, give the Bulldogs 17 different combinations for the 2015 season. Many responded by saying that 17 was too much. Look closely, however, and you will see that "combinations" is the key word here. The Bulldogs wore 11 jerseys alone in 2015, and 15 combinations in total (feel free to fact-check this by viewing them on this blog's archive). So, in fact, the Bulldogs will only wear 2 more combinations in the 2015 season. (Three counting the Cream Hat as a separate combination.)
The initial image release has some clues as to what the 17 combinations will be. See a brightened version below. The Bulldogs hosted their "Fan Day" today, where fans (specifically, kids), could meet the players and coaches and have items signed. During "Fan Day", the players were wearing the 2015 version of the Maroon 80's style jersey. The 2015 version has two minor differences from the version used up until last season. First, thin white piping has been added. I like this change, it adds more light to an otherwise dark uniform; it is a change I suggested in my concept this winter. Also, a state of Mississippi outline has replaced the bulldog logo on the right sleeve.
