In an all-around ugly loss at Auburn, Mississippi State wore shiny maroon helmets with the white jerseys and maroon pants for the second time with the current uniform design, and the first time in the 2017 season. The solid combination was first worn last season at Alabama, a game that had a very similar outcome.
Saturday was the 9th time that State had worn the Maroon-White-Maroon combo at Auburn- it's a popular choice against the Tigers due to the symmetry with Auburn's never-changing White-Navy-White home combination. The Bulldogs previously wore M-W-M on the Plains in 1985, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2009, and 2011. It's worth noting that only one of those (1997) was a win. Conversely, State has won at Auburn 4 times in white pants in that span (1985 to 2017).
Uni model for this game is the same as the Georgia game: kicker Jace Christmann, who made another field goal, as well as an extra point, to improve to 5/5 on FGs and 9/9 on PATs this season.
