For the first time in 2017, the Bulldogs broke out the white helmets and the all-white look as they traveled to Athens, Georgia to take on the SEC's other Bulldogs. State wore the exact same all white look twice last season, in a loss to Kentucky and a win over Ole Miss. The current white helmets were also previously worn in 2015, in a win over Missouri and a loss to Ole Miss.
This season's white helmet debut went about as smoothly as their appearance in the 2015 Egg Bowl; Georgia scored twice early and never looked back, winning the game 31-3 to hand State their first loss of the season. There were rumors the week before the game that Georgia was going to wear black jerseys and brand the game as a "blackout", something they did against Louisiana last season but haven't done against an SEC team since a 2008 loss to Alabama. Those rumors proved unsubstantiated as Georgia wore their classic red jerseys and silver britches. Georgia's standard look made for a pretty solid uni matchup against State's all-White, but not as good as State vs. LSU was last week.
The uni model this week is kicker #47 Jace Christmann, the only State player to score any points against Georgia. Christmann is 4/4 on FGs this season and 8/8 on PATs. He solidified himself as the Bulldogs' #1 kicker against LSU, and continued to look like State's best kicker in years by nailing a 26 yarder against Georgia tonight.
