In the sixth week of the 2019 season, Mississippi State hosted four games at the Dudy Noble Field and posted a 2-2 record in those games, winning a midweek game over Mississippi Valley State and defeating LSU on Thursday before dropping the Friday and Saturday games to lose the series. After debuting a new uniform combination in each of the first five weeks of the season, this was the first week in which no new looks were worn.
The week began with a win over Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday, in which the Bulldogs wore the classic white 85 jerseys. With the win, the white 85s now have a 3-0 record in 2019.
The LSU series was the Bulldogs' first Thursday-Saturday series of the year; as such, there was some interest from myself and others as to how the uniform rotation would be impacted. In Thurs-Sat series the past few seasons, State has generally worn the "Saturday" uniform on Thursday, worn the "Sunday" uniform on Saturday, and stuck with the maroon tops on Friday.
This year was a slight departure from that: instead of wearing white on Thursday and keeping maroon on Friday, the Bulldogs wore the maroon 85 jerseys (with white pants) in Thursday's series-opening win. On Friday, they wore the 50s-style white STATE jerseys; the loss on Friday was the Bulldogs' first of the year in those jerseys.
By wearing white on Friday, Mississippi State broke a long-standing trend of wearing exclusively maroon on Friday, as part of the "Maroon Friday" marketing campaign. Recent exceptions included:
In game 3 of the series on Saturday, Mississippi State wore the fan-favorite white "State" pinstripe uniforms. Having only been worn in midweek games prior to Saturday's game, the white pinstripe uniforms finally made their 2019 weekend debut in the rubber match with the Tigers.
Saturday's uniform selection also differed from last year's uniform rotation strategy. Starting with the Ole Miss series last season, Mississippi State wore the all-black uniforms in game 3 of every SEC series, regardless of whether that game was on Saturday or Sunday. This year, the all-black look has been worn exclusively on Sundays.
I'm a fan of this move- it appeases the players by keeping all-black in the rotation while limiting its appearances and making it feel more "special." It'll be interesting to see if they keep this up as the season progresses, especially considering the Bulldogs have now lost both non-Sunday game 3s in SEC play (Saturday against LSU in the white pins and game 2 of the Saturday DH at Florida in the gray pins). There are three more Thurs-Sat series remaining on Mississippi State's 2019 schedule: at Arkansas (April 18-20), at Texas A&M (May 2-4), and vs South Carolina (May 16-18).
Overall, this was Mississippi State's best uniform week of the season, in my opinion. In four home games, they wore their four best home looks. Perfectly ideal. It's unfortunate that it coincided with the Bulldogs' first series loss of the year; that's how it always seems to go though- you can't have everything go right at the same time.

- March 9, 2018: In a Friday doubleheader against Utah Valley, State switched from the maroon 85 tops to the white 85 tops for game 2.
- April 24, 2015: Mississippi State wore the gray script uniforms in a Friday game at Arkansas. This had been the last non-DH Friday game in which State didn't wear maroon.
- April 25, 2014: In the last non-DH Friday home game in which State didn't wear maroon, they wore the cream M over S jerseys against Texas A&M.
- June 21, 2013: The last time Mississippi State wore white uniforms on a Friday game that wasn’t part of a doubleheader, they beat Oregon State in Omaha to advance to the National Championship Series.

This week, the Bulldogs will look to rebound from the LSU series loss by taking on Louisiana Monroe in a Wednesday midweek game and then traveling to Tennessee to take on the Volunteers in the fourth weekend of SEC play.
