After Tennessee Tech backed out due to COVID issues, Mississippi State scheduled an impromptu weekend series with Kent State for the third weekend of 2021. The Golden Flashes, a top team in the MAC, were a fantastic replacement and provided a tough opponent for the Bulldogs, even taking the Saturday game by a score of 9-5. However, State had won the Friday game and handily took the Sunday game, with four pitchers combining for a no-hitter in a 13-0 victory. Combined with the midweek victory over Southern Miss, the Bulldogs had another successful 3-1 week.
To start the week, Mississippi State traveled to Pearl, MS to take on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. With the Bulldogs as the home team, the classic white 85 jerseys made their debut in the win over USM, with a couple minor changes for the 2021 season. The state of MS outline on the back has been replaced by player names and the number font on the back has been changed from the tall, condensed version to the shorter, full version. These updates bring the white 85 jerseys more inline with the black 85 jerseys, which have featured player names and the full number font since 2019.
This is the first time since 2014 that player names have been worn with the white 85 design. The Bulldogs now have four jerseys featuring player names: white 85s, black, cream, and gray. The maroon 85 and pinstripe jerseys still feature the state outline on the back.
With the 4-1 win over Southern Miss, Mississippi State has now won 3 straight over USM and is 11-6 against the Golden Eagles since 2011. The white 85s start off 2021 with a 1-0 record.

In the weekend series against Kent State, Mississippi State wore the same three uniforms as they did the previous weekend against Tulane: maroon 85 over white on Friday, cream script "State" on Saturday, and All-Black on Sunday. With Friday's win, the maroon 85 jerseys improved to 2-1 on the season and 1-1 when paired with white pants. The cream uniforms fell back below .500 to 1-2 with the loss on Saturday.
The All-Black uniforms improved to 3-0 on the season with Sunday's no-hit victory; the Bulldogs are now 23-4 in All-Black dating back to 2018, and 24-4 in the look all-time. The 13-0 victory over Kent State was the largest margin of victory ever in the All-Black combination; the previous record was 10 runs, set in the 18-8 victory over Kentucky in 2018 and tied in the 13-3 victory over Alabama in 2019.
