Well, it definitely wasn't the uniforms this time. In the debut of the new white pants, the Bulldogs started off slow but eventually got out to a 17-0 halftime lead thanks to the play of Damian "Dam" Williams. Yes, his nameplate really spells out "Dam.Williams." But after the events of the second half, we may not be seeing much more of "Dam." The Bulldogs' offense stagnated and the Jaguars started scoring, taking a 21-20 lead with a minute remaining in the game. The Bulldogs drove all the way down the field, but missed a 28 yard field goal, giving the Jaguars the upset.
Despite the odd and somewhat surreal second half, the Bulldogs looked a lot better aesthetically than they did in the maroon over white combo last year. The article from a couple of days ago explained the continuing inconsistencies with current uniform, but we're getting there.
Also, I would like to apologize for one thing: the loss is totally my fault. You see, the first game I ever attended in Starkville was in 2004 against Maine. And my first game as a student? Today. So I apologize on behalf of myself and the few other people I've met that share this record. At least we know what it's like to be a Mississippi State fan, right? HailState.....
