In a shootout homecoming win over Samford, the Bulldogs went back to the basics and wore the Shiny Maroon/ Maroon/ White combo for the second time this season. This was the first repeat combo of the 2016 season; the combo was first worn in the season opening loss to South Alabama.
For the past three seasons, the Bulldogs have worn all maroon on homecoming. However, they debuted that combo earlier this season vs. Auburn, and with only 6 home games this year, all-maroon only fits into the schedule one game. With the blackout scheduled next week vs. Texas A&M, the Samford and Arkansas games were the only other two home games left in which to wear the maroon jersey. Presumably, the plan would be to wear white pants in one of those games and gray pants in the other. Sticking with the maroon and white makes sense for homecoming and allows M-M-Gray to be worn in the home finale vs. Arkansas.
As previously mentioned, next week's 11 A.M. kickoff vs Texas A&M is a blackout. Expect the black jerseys from last year to return, along with silver helmets from the Patriots uniforms, which should go really well with the silver numbers on the black jerseys. Expect the pants to be either gray or black; if we go with black, hopefully it will be updated with stripes instead of the oversized M-State logo.
This week's jersey model is WR #6 Donald Gray, who had a huge game with 3 TDs and 207 yards receiving.
